SANDS OF TIME

written in 1977

I sit with my feet being warmed in the healing sands of time
My eyes are filled with tears, my heart is very sad
And yet, yet my whole being is being partly mended
With plans for a new tomorrow far from these sands of time.
Where I will be lifted by fate itself and gently placed in my new life
Where my old memories will be slowly flushed away.

Gently now, and the hurt that is deep inside me
Be coated with the healing sands of time.
Let tomorrow bring a warmer place for me
Where once again amongst the trees and playful breezes
I can once again place my feet securely in
The Sands of Time

Here is what one reader had to say about this poem: "Norah, I cannot tell you the comfort this poem has brought and still brings me. I have read it many, many times. I have passed it on to a few close personal friends in their darkest moments. It is so deep and real. I doubt I will ever part with it...it will always be part of me, part of our friendship." -Anne

The Bone China Assembly
Written in 2006

Ladies, now we all drink from our,
"Bone China Cups," nothing else will do!
Many of us now wear red hats, and are saying,
"when I am an old woman I will wear purple too," and they do!
Tea ladies , not coffee, is the nectar of life,
I drink mine black, how about you?
Life was not always easy, but We made it through!
So, rattle your tea cups Ladies, rattle them loud and long,
fill them to the brim so that the next generation, waiting in the rear,
can hear them and know that soon, it will be their turn
Gulp, Gulp, Gulp, more tea Ladies.

Silence Is Not Golden
written in 2007
Softness falls like cotton balls
upon the weary earth
in the early morning light.
Gentleness, touching all
joining each other.
Flakes falling so gently
as not to disturb.
Shhh. silence is not golden,
it is white.

"The Always Wanted"

written in 2009

Please do not want your way, I cant
give it to you again today.
Maybe tomorrow!
Today I want it my way, even if it is
just for a little while.
Life is too needy these days, so let
me rest awhile and I'll get back to you
another day.

CROWS

written in 2009
Blackened against the
early morning sky,
the crows, hundreds of them flying
into daylight to the farmers fields
they go for their breakfast,
lunch and dinner.
They return to Essex every
year, their instinct is
ancient and stubborn
they know were to go.
Black as the night all the
thousands they fly, like
black clouds in the sky!
Crows are very family
you know, all life is similar.
Whether you are an old crow
or young, we all are one.....

The Sun Room

written in 2010
Warm breezes blowing
the leaves here and there.
My husband and I
nestled comfy in our
old arm chairs.
The little finch
in her bath, so
joyful a sight.
The cat at the
window is delighted,
she thinks it
her dinner tonight.
